Musical Director - Grant Bartley

Grant has been working with the Choir since 2012, starting as its Accompanist, then moving into the role of Musical Director in 2013. A highlight of his week, Grant enjoys coming to rehearsal each Wednesday night and working with such a talented and passionate group of people, who share in his joy of music, and even his stories and jokes.
Grant leads a very busy life outside of CYC, chiefly as Assistant HOD of Music at Cashmere High School; a role which includes conducting and rehearsing various groups such as their Orchestra, Concert Band, Choir, and Chamber Choir. He also frequently works as a professional organist, harpsichordist, accompanist, and conductor in Christchurch and throughout New Zealand, guest conducting numerous choirs and orchestras. He is Assistant Conductor of the Addington Brass Band, with whom CYC performs annually.

Accompanist - Hsing-Yin Lin

Hsing-Yin has been CYC’s accompanist since the beginning of 2015, and has fitted into the group seamlessly. She has led an exciting and diverse career in music previous to joining CYC, both within and outside of Christchurch, including positions from accompanist to private and itinerant piano teacher to music production assistant for Overseas Radio and Television in Singapore and Taiwan for four years.
Hsing-Yin now lives in Christchurch with her family, and continues to accompany students and teach both as an itinerant at Ilam Primary and privately. Her ceaseless positivity and mothering nature which she brings to the Choir is certainly a unique and valued contribution, in addition to her skills as an accompanist (with a flair for the jazzier repertoire!), and CYC is delighted to continue working with her in 2017.
